Jamestown, ND – Rental Training Event scheduled for September 13

Stutsman County Housing Authority, Money Follows the Persons, and High Plains Fair Housing are sponsoring a rental training event on Wednesday, September 13 8:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Quality Inn in Jamestown, ND.  The rental training event will include an educational session for landlords, and a tenant rights session.  Both sessions are free and open to the public.

The landlord session from 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. topics will include: landlord legal responsibilities, child protective services, vulnerable adults, fair housing and criminal guidance, service animals, and reasonable accommodations.  The tenant rights session from 1:30 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. topics will include: service animals, reasonable accommodations, tenant rights, guide to affordable housing, renter insurance, and applying for assistance.

The training events are meant to help educate the owners, landlords, renters, and service workers of the rental laws and federal regulations, and provide contacts with various agencies.  This is the fourth rental education event in the region in the past four years.

Money Follows the Person is a federal program that provides options for older adults and/or people with disabilities. The program provides funding for one-time moving costs and arranges for the services and supports you need to move from a nursing home or an institution for people with developmental disabilities.

High Plains Fair Housing Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that works to eliminate housing discrimination and to ensure equal housing opportunities for all. The Center assists people who believe they have experienced discrimination while attempting to rent or purchase housing, provides community education to promote fair housing, and conducts preliminary investigations of potential housing discrimination.

Special board meeting on 8-23-17 at 9 a.m. to have board approved and pass resolution for SEMAP submission.

Dickey Sargent Housing Authority will have its annual meeting on Wednesday, October 18th at 3:30 PM.  There will be a 30 minute period for public comment between 3:30 – 4:00 PM.  The board suggests that all public comments be sent in electronically.

Stutsman County Housing Authority is looking for a temporary non-benefitted Document Manager to work in the Jamestown office.  The position is expected to run from September 1, 2017 until December 31, 2017.  The Document Manager will work approximately 20 hours per week until the contract ends.

Enter applications to housing software program;

Filing paperwork;

Assembling client files;

Retaining documents according to the records management policy;

And other duties as assigned.
