Stutsman County Housing Authority is proposing a change in our waiting list preference. SCHA is developing this preference to assist those households who are in danger of losing assistance due to changes within the subsidized dwellings in our area. Owners are leaving the subsidized markets, and many of those households may go without assistance once those programs end. SCHA wants to prevent those families from becoming homeless.

A.3 SELECTION OF FAMILIES FROM THE WAITING LIST & LOCAL PREFERENCES

The SCHA will select families from the waiting list in accordance with the following local preferences and in date and time order of application and in compliance with the income targeting guidelines.

1. Victims of domestic violence
2. Residents displaced by the loss of assisted units within Stutsman & Logan Counties and areas managed by SCHA 3. Residents of Stutsman and Logan Counties
a. Elderly and disabled households
b. Family with children
c. Singles & Couples
4. Non-residents of Stutsman and Logan Counties
a. Elderly and disabled households
b. Family with children
c. Singles & Couples

Based on the above preferences, residents of Stutsman and Logan counties receive preference in all categories before non-residents and all families in section 2-1 will be offered housing assistance before any families in 2-2 and so forth.

The new preference will be implemented October 1, 2013.
