Great Plains Housing Authority has had a minimum tenant financial requirement of $50 to go towards costs of rent and utilities. Effective November 1, 2025, this requirement will be increasing to $125 per month for new participants and November 1, 2025, for existing housing participants. Going Forward, HCV program participants will be responsible for at least $125 monthly out of pocket towards the cost of rent and utilities.
GPHA has a minimum rent waiver available for those program participants that cannot make the minimum rent payment.
To qualify for a waiver, program participants must follow one or more of these steps:
- Apply for Social Security benefits – You may qualify for SSI or Supplemental Security Income.
- SSDI may require previous work history and documentation.
- Apply through the Human Service Zone for SNAP, TANF, and other benefit programs.
- Contact Job Service for any employment opportunities and other benefit services.
- Visit the Human Service Center regarding any programs that may help with behavioral health conditions or Vocational Rehab.
- Request adjustments to your child support or spousal support payments.
HUD’s goal is to promote self-sufficiency through rental assistance programs. The housing authority is working with our participants to make this a reality.
