Great Plains Housing Authority is the recipient of a 2021 Emergency Solutions Grant – CV (CARES Act) in the amount of $386,838.

The Emergency Solutions Grant is a federal program designed to provide financial assistance to facilities and programs within North Dakota to identify sheltered and unsheltered homeless people, as well as those at risk of homelessness, and provide the services necessary to help those persons quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.

The North Dakota Department of Commerce approved the grant application and award amount for the Great Plains Housing Authority for Street Outreach, software licensing, leasing assistance and administrative expenses.

GPHA has been actively developing a program plan to begin programming in May 2021. Great Plains Housing Authority will be seeking a program manager to coordinate the ESG-CV Grant within the nine-county region of ND Region VI: Barnes, Dickey, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Stutsman and Wells counties.

Additional emergency housing services available include the Rent Bridge program and the Emergency Rental Assistance program, which is in pending legislation expected to be approved. These additional services can include financial assistance for landlords and utility providers.

Since April 2020, GPHA received additional awards to assist more clients during the pandemic. This has resulted in an additional 136 households assisted.
